Weddings at the Cathedral
Say "I Do" at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul
Imagine exchanging your vows in one of Boston's most beautiful and historic churches, overlooking Boston Common. With its elegant neoclassical architecture, soaring sanctuary, and welcoming community, the Cathedral Church of St. Paul offers a timeless setting for a wedding that is both meaningful and unforgettable.
Preparing for marriage:
At the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, we understand marriage to be a lifelong commitment between two consenting adults, made before God and the gathered community. In the Episcopal Church, marriage is a sacramental rite that invites couples to grow in love, support one another through every season of life, and build a shared future grounded in faith.
If one of our clergy will officiate your wedding, you'll meet with your priest four or five times before the ceremony for premarital preparation. These conversations help you reflect on your relationship, prepare thoughtfully for your marriage, and create a ceremony that reflects both your story and the traditions of the Episcopal Church.
If you're already part of the cathedral community, we're honored to celebrate this milestone with you. If you're new to the cathedral, we welcome the opportunity to get to know you and explore whether this is the right place for your wedding. Couples who belong to another church—or who are still exploring their spiritual journey—are also encouraged to reach out for an initial conversation.
The canons of the Episcopal Church require that at least one person in the couple be a baptized Christian (in any Christian denomination or tradition) when a member of our clergy officiates the marriage.
Weddings with Guest Clergy:
The cathedral sanctuary is also available for couples who wish to be married by clergy from another congregation or tradition. We are happy to discuss the use of our beautiful sanctuary and the arrangements needed to host your ceremony here.
