Cathedral Church of St. Paul Strategic Plan
The mission of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul is to be a “House of Prayer for All People,” amplifying the mission of the Diocese. We do this through our three congregations (Sunday, MANNA, and the Crossing), our justice ministry, our Ministry of the Steps, and our partnership with the Diocese coordinating The St. Paul Center for Theology and Prayer. We are the home of the diocesan Chinese congregation and the place where Muslims who work or study downtown come for Jumah prayers on Fridays.
The following plan will guide us in growing more fully into our mission. With it we reaffirm our calling and commitment to work against racism and other forms of oppression in our cathedral, the church, and our society.
Our Core Values: Welcome, Courage, Justice, Joy
Objective #1 - Grow courageous Christian disciples.
Deepen our relationships with, and participation in, justice work with key ministry partners.
Build practices for reflection on experience and vocation into the life of staff, volunteers, and lay leadership.
Continue developing the St. Paul Center for Theology and Prayer in partnership with the Diocese of MA.
Continue building anti-oppression training and skill-building for multicultural community into the life of our worship communities, staff, and chapter.
Objective #2 - Practice radical welcome
Spark mutual transformation in our diocese by inviting story-sharing and skill-sharing around radical welcome.
Develop practices for getting feedback from people on their experiences here so we can grow into our calling to be a “House of Prayer for All People.”
Prioritize feedback from those traditionally on the margins when discerning how to be welcoming.
Regularly offer effective training in de-escalation skills, bystander intervention, radical welcome, and trauma-informed care.
Objective #3 - Feed spirits and build community
Create worship that strengthens Christian hope and inspires joy.
Deepen our partnerships with organizations who share our space to create interactive, life-giving events.
Host art exhibitions, performances, and educational opportunities that bring people together across differences and address relevant issues of our time.
Objective #4 - Strategically match our ministry with our resources.
Raise the funds we need to live into the ministry to which we are called.
Care for those doing ministry by honoring sabbath-keeping for all and creating a staff culture of health and vocational thriving.
Create a timeline for implementation of this plan.
Track implementation & impact through regular reports to chapter.
Pray for discernment and make decisions prayerfully.
