Our Ministries and Vision

Our Vision and Goals

St. Paul’s leaders engaged in a year of listening, discernment and prayer and emerged with this statement of our Vision and Goals. We hope you’ll read it and then come to join us in pursuing God’s mission!

Our Ministries: Worship and Music, Community Formation, Connecting and Serving

Cathedral Council: The Council is the body of Cathedral members who help to lead the day-to-day vision and programs of our active, diverse congregation. Cathedral Council Co-Conveners: Josephine Erewa and Brent Was; Recording and Financial Secretary: Bob Greiner; Assistant Secretary: Danielle Reese.

Worship and Music

The Cathedral Choir and Music Program: Our accomplished choir of professionals and volunteers sings every Sunday from September to June and in special concerts and music programs throughout the year. The Music Program also hosts renowned artists who perform everything from classical art songs to jazz. Contact: Ed Broms

Lay Worship Leaders: Lay people of all ages serve, read, offer healing prayers and assist with every aspect of our worship. Contact: Danielle Reese

Altar Guild: This creative team prepares and beautifies the sanctuary for worship, often creating wonderful seasonal artistic installations. Contact: Bob Greiner

Worship Planning Group: Lay people and clergy team up to plan Spirit-filled worship for every season. Contact: Very Rev. Jep Streit

Radio: Tune in to our popular radio program on Sundays at 7:30 a.m. on WCRB 99.5 FM or streamed live at www.wcrb.com, and enjoy a half-hour of music, scripture, preaching and poetry. Contact: Ed Broms

The Crossing ~ emergent worship community: Think early church traditions and spiritual practices … with a groove. Our emerging church worship community gathers on Thursdays @ 6:30 p.m. for worship, or you can come at 6 p.m. to share spiritual practices. Contact: Rev. Stephanie Spellers or Lynn Campbell

Community Formation

Children’s Christian Formation: Children under 6 may attend Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in our Atrium. Children 6 and older attend the main service, but enjoy a special Children’s Sermon Time – led every Sunday by one of our priests and a lay leader – that offers a kid-sized take on the gospel. Adult Christian Formation: Adults grow in spirit and wisdom via Sunday morning classes and periodic small group gatherings. The classes cover a wide range of topics, from spiritual formation to the social and political issues of the day. Contact: Rev. Canon Steve Bonsey or Krishana Suckau

Parents of Young Children: This peer group offers a space for parents of young children to laugh, eat and offer wisdom for the journey they share. Contact: Susan Knight

Pastoral Care and Rites: The Cathedral clergy offer spiritual direction, baptism, confirmation, weddings, funerals and other pastoral rites. Contact: Ethel Crawford

Pastoral Visitors: A team of lay people stay connected to members who are sick, shut-in or just need a supportive, prayerful presence. Contact: Margo Cotham

Welcoming Team: Our greeters share warm welcome, coordinate Coffee Hour and hospitality, and help newcomers to feel at home.  Contact: David Luo and Josephine Erewa

Connecting and Serving

Monday Lunch Program: Volunteers from the Cathedral and our partner churches offer a meal, friendship and vital services to hungry and homeless people. Mondays at noon. Contact: Leslie Gleason or Rev. Stephanie Spellers

Anti-Racism Group: Committed members share stories, look at systems of oppression and work for transformation.

The Labyrinth: This group takes a creative, embodied, prayerful approach to the maze-like labyrinth, located on the lower level of the Cathedral. Wednesdays at 6-8 p.m. Also open 4-6 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m.-noon Fridays and by appointment. Contact: Ethel Crawford or James Van Looy
